MacKay worked with artist and photographer Maya Barkai to create this piece, which is meant to embody our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The MacKay mission statement is used to outline the central figure, who is surrounded by diverse figures, showing a balance of movement, progress, and action. It demonstrates that we are “One MacKay” and embraces each individual’s uniqueness.
Maya Barkai is an Israeli-born photographer who has been based in New York City for over 20 years. She is the creator of Walking Men Worldwide™, a series of Public Art installations that originated with Walking Men 99™ in Downtown Manhattan in 2010. Over the next decade, it was followed by a series of projects in collaboration with the PERMM Museum of Contemporary Art in Russia; the city of Sydney, Australia; the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina; and the Fubon Art Foundation in Taipei.
Created by MacKay’s own Alina Sysak, this piece represents the unique and diverse makeup of our firm. In the center is the “face” of MacKay, which is formed using our diversity, equity, and inclusion mission statement. However, stepping back, it becomes evident that we are really a collage of many: Many people, many backgrounds, many skills, many qualities. Embracing the many is what has helped us achieve our many successes and each individual has played a unique part in that.
Alina Sysak is an Associate in the Portfolio Administration team. She has embraced her creative side as a way to more easily express herself by using art as a creative outlet. Whether through painting, drawing, or photography, art has always been something Alina has utilized to escape daily stresses.
